WAG Provincial Program Coach 

Reports To: WAG Program Coordinator and Director of Programs (or designate).

Wages 

Based on qualification and experience.

  • Hourly: $22.50-$33.50
  • Salary: $47,500-$70,000

Overview

As a WAG Program Coach, you are a vital architect of athlete success. You will provide daily coaching and performance monitoring for assigned groups, collaborating with the Program Coordinator to design and implement yearly training cycles. Your work ensures that every athlete progresses through a developmentally appropriate path rooted in OGC’s Mission, Vision, Values, and the Principles of True Sport.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program Design: Develop and execute training plans that prioritize skill progression, technical excellence, and long-term athlete development.
  • Holistic Coaching: Foster a fun, safe, and inclusive environment that balances physical training with social and emotional growth.
  • Athlete Support: Provide dedicated technical leadership during daily training, local/provincial competitions, and training camps.
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Act as a mentor to junior staff and work alongside Integrated Support Teams (IST) to optimize performance and manage training loads.
  • Professional Advocacy: Champion the OGC brand and maintain professional and respectful communication with parents and stakeholders.

Required Skills & Physical Demands

Physical & Technical:

  • Active Spotting: High-level strength and reflexes to safely assist athletes through complex rotations and inversions.
  • Stamina & Mobility: Ability to maintain high energy while standing for up to 8 hours and navigating a dynamic gym environment (mats, obstacles, and equipment).
  • Sensory Awareness: Acute visual and auditory skills to analyze fast-moving techniques and maintain safety in a loud environment.

Instructional & Cognitive:

  • Adaptive Communication: Ability to translate complex biomechanical concepts into age-appropriate instructions.
  • Strategic Planning: Proficiency in tracking individual athlete data and adjusting long-term goals accordingly.
  • Critical Decision-Making: Ability to multitask and prioritize athlete safety under pressure.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Certification: GymCan NCCP Certified WAG Competition 1 (Comp 2 preferred).
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years coaching within the Ontario Provincial system.
  • Technical Knowledge: Extensive understanding of the Developmental and Optional Code of Points.
  • Safety: Valid Standard First Aid/CPR and completion of all GymCan/Gymnastics Ontario Safe Sport training.
  • Administrative: Proficiency in Google Workspace and a record of being in "Good Standing" with Gymnastics Ontario.

Additional Desired Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in Kinesiology, Physical Education,Sport Psychology or a related field.
  • Advanced NCCP Certifications and multilingualism.

Recreational Program Manager

Reports To: Director of Programs, Executive Director, or designate.

Overview

The Ottawa Gymnastics Centre (OGC) is seeking a highly organized and energetic Recreational Program Manager to lead our thriving Recreation and Kindergym departments. This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for the "heart" of our club—ensuring hundreds of young athletes receive high-quality instruction in a safe, fun, and structured environment.

The successful candidate will champion a culture of excellence by upholding OGC’s core values of quality, safety, and integrity. By leading with transparency and accountability, you will bridge the gap between floor coaching and administrative strategy, managing a diverse team of coaches and maintaining the financial and operational health of our recreational tracks.

Core Responsibilities

Staffing & Leadership

  • Recruitment: Interview, hire, and onboard staff for ongoing program delivery.
  • Performance Management: Conduct regular staff reviews and encourage professional development and certification upgrades.
  • Compliance: Ensure all coaching staff meet OGC and Gymnastics Ontario (GO) standards.
  • Development: Coordinate staff meetings and lead the Coach in Training (CIT) development program.
  • Supervision: Directly manage Recreation and Kindergym staff to ensure the highest instructional standards.

Program Management & Delivery

  • Coordination: Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of all Recreation and Kindergym programs.
  • Scheduling: Manage session schedules, gym rotations, and staff assignments.
  • Quality Control: Track athlete progress and manage the distribution of badges and certificates.
  • Safety & Risk Management: Maintain equipment standards, oversee incident reporting, and promote the Athlete Code of Conduct and True Sport Principles.
  • Seasonal & Specialized Tracks: Oversee Summer/March Break camps, PD Days, Adult Rec, Home School, and Drop-In programs.

Administrative & Financial Oversight

  • Software Management: Maintain expert-level proficiency in Uplifter management software.
  • Financial Administration: Manage budgets, track expenses, and perform credit card reconciliation in conjunction with the Operations Manager.
  • Digital Proficiency: Utilize Google Workspace (Drive, Sheets, Forms) for efficient data management and reporting.
  • Communication: Act as the primary parent liaison; manage departmental social media, newsletters, and on-site bulletin boards.
  • Reporting: Participate in weekly leadership meetings and provide regular updates to the Director of Programs and Executive Director

MAG, WAG & XCEL Coaching Opportunities

We are looking for enthusiastic committed people with competitive gymnastics coaching experience to join our competitive coaching team. Candidates must have the proven ability to work as a team, be passionate about the sport, as well as a proven track record for preparing athletes effectively for competition.

The OGC has experienced tremendous growth since its modest beginnings, and is now the third largest gymnastics club in Ontario. Over 3,000 annual participants, from 6 months old to adulthood, take part in a wide variety of recreational and competitive programs. The OGC employs a highly passionate team to deliver our programs, and operates out of a dedicated 22,000 square foot Gymnastics facility.

The OGC is seeking Full & Part Time Coaches to add to our growing team.

Knowledge and Skills (required and/or willingness to obtain):

  • NCCP Gymnastics Comp 1 (or equivalent Level 2) Certification
  • NCCP Trampoline Level 2 Certification
  • Respect in Sport for Leaders
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR
  • Criminal Record Check (including vulnerable sector)
